Overview
Cultural Odyssey loops out from Delhi to combine the Golden Triangle with the spiritual heart of northern India. After Ranthambore, Jaipur and Agra, the train continues to Varanasi for Sarnath and the evening aarti on the Ganges, then to the sculpted temples of Khajuraho and the riverside palaces of Orchha.

Day 1DelhiOn board
Check in at Delhi's Safdarjung station in the evening and board the train as it departs for Sawai Madhopur.
Day 2Sawai Madhopur – RanthamboreOn board
Enjoy breakfast and a leisurely morning on board, with lunch on the train. In the afternoon, head into Ranthambore on safari in search of the elusive tiger, returning for dinner as the train travels to Jaipur.

Day 3JaipurOn board
After breakfast, drive to the hilltop Amber Fort. Lunch is at a city hotel, followed by a visit to the City Palace before returning to the station in the evening.

Day 4AgraOn board
Leave the train at Tundla and drive to Agra for the Taj Mahal. After lunch at a city hotel, visit Agra Fort and see craftsmen at work on pietra dura marble inlay, then return for dinner on board.

Day 5VaranasiOn board
Spend the morning at Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first sermon, and have lunch at a city hotel. Later, take a boat out on the Ganges to watch the evening aarti ceremony from the water.

Tour the celebrated Western and Eastern groups of temples at Khajuraho, known for their intricate carving, before returning to the train for lunch.

Explore Orchha's historic sights, return on board for lunch, then set off by tuk-tuk for a tour of a nearby village before the train heads back to Delhi.

Questions about this journey
What makes Cultural Odyssey different from the other routes?
It is the only Deccan Odyssey journey that travels east to Varanasi, Khajuraho and Orchha. It still includes Ranthambore, Jaipur and the Taj Mahal in the first half of the week.
What happens in Varanasi?
You visit Sarnath during the day and lunch at a city hotel. In the evening a boat takes you onto the Ganges to watch the aarti ceremony.
Which temples are seen at Khajuraho?
The tour covers both the Western and Eastern groups of temples, with lunch back on the train afterwards.
Where does the journey start and end?
It is a round trip from Delhi's Safdarjung station. You board on the evening of day one and disembark in the morning of day eight after breakfast.
Is there a tiger safari?
Yes. On day two you head into Ranthambore for an afternoon safari, after a relaxed morning on board.
