Overview
Indian Odyssey travels one way from Delhi to Mumbai, linking the classic sights of the north with the heritage of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Expect a tiger safari at Ranthambore, the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, Jaipur's Amber Fort, a boat on Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Champaner and Vadodara's palaces, and finally the cave temples of Ellora.

Day 1DelhiOn board
Check in at Delhi's railway station in the evening and board the Deccan Odyssey, which departs for Sawai Madhopur later that night.
Day 2Sawai Madhopur – RanthamboreOn board
Enjoy a leisurely morning on board. In the afternoon, set out on safari in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in search of its tigers, returning to the train for drinks and dinner.

Day 3AgraOn board
From Tundla station, drive to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. After lunch at a city hotel, visit Agra Fort and watch artisans at work on pietra dura marble inlay, the technique seen in Mughal monuments. Dinner is back on board.

Day 4JaipurOn board
A welcome at the station starts your day in the Pink City. Visit the hilltop Amber Fort, have lunch at a city hotel, then tour the City Palace and drive past the Hawa Mahal.

Visit Udaipur's City Palace and take a boat out on Lake Pichola. After lunch at a city hotel, walk through the old city and its lively, colourful bazaar.

Day 6Vadodara – ChampanerOn board
After breakfast, drive to Champaner to explore Pavagadh Archaeological Park. Return to the train for lunch, then visit the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum and enjoy tea and snacks at the splendid Laxmi Vilas Palace.

Day 7Aurangabad – Ellora CavesOn board
Lunch on board, then head out in the afternoon to the World Heritage-listed Ellora Caves before rejoining the train for its final night.

Questions about this journey
Is Indian Odyssey a one-way journey?
Yes. It begins with an evening boarding in Delhi and ends in Mumbai on day eight. The Indian Sojourn covers a similar route in the opposite direction, with Jodhpur in place of Ellora.
When is the tiger safari?
On day two, after a leisurely morning on board, you leave the train in the afternoon for a safari in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, returning for drinks and dinner.
How is the Taj Mahal visited?
The train stops at Tundla and you drive into Agra in the morning for the Taj Mahal, followed by lunch at a city hotel, Agra Fort and a marble inlay workshop.
What does the journey see in Gujarat?
Day six includes Pavagadh Archaeological Park at Champaner, the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum in Vadodara and tea at Laxmi Vilas Palace.
Where are lunches taken?
It varies by day. In Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur lunch is at a city hotel, while in Vadodara and on the Ellora day lunch is served on board.
