Overview
A three-night journey pairing days in the wild with evenings aboard the Royal Scotsman. Expert guides lead a day on the rugged west coast near Strathcarron, with coastal foraging and lobster, crab and scallops by the shore, and a day in the ancient woodland of Rothiemurchus with fire-making, a fire-cooked feast and an optional loch swim. A gala dinner closes the trip.

Day 1Edinburgh → KeithKeith
Board at Edinburgh Waverley and cross the Forth Railway Bridge, with tea and scones through Fife. The train passes Arbroath, Montrose and Aberdeen on the way to Keith, with time for a treatment in the spa car. An informal dinner of local produce is followed by live folk music in the Observation Car.

Day 2Keith → Strathcarron
The train runs west via Inverness on the scenic line towards Kyle of Lochalsh. After lunch, leave the train at Strathcarron to explore the west coast with expert guides: learn coastal skills, forage for wild ingredients and enjoy lobster, crab and scallops by the shore, with the option of a sea swim or a wild cocktail. Dinner on board is followed by Gaelic music.

Day 3Rothiemurchus → PerthPerth
After breakfast, travel from Carrbridge to Rothiemurchus Estate for a day in ancient woodland with a traditional skills expert: foraging, craft and fire-making, then a rustic fire-feast and the option of a loch swim. Rejoin the train at Boat of Garten for a gala dinner as it travels to Perth for the night.

After an early start from Perth, enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the train crosses the Tay Bridge and returns to Edinburgh.
