Overview
A five-night journey where Scotland's myths and history meet its scenery. Walk the sands of Morar and explore Glenfinnan or Steall Waterfall, then choose an island boat trip, Easdale or a Hebridean baker's farmhouse from Oban. Later come Drumlanrig Castle, a Highland morning at Rothiemurchus and a champagne reception at Stirling Castle before a gala dinner.

Leave Edinburgh in the afternoon with tea and scones as the train runs west through Falkirk, Clydebank and Dumbarton to the northern Clyde, then on to Spean Bridge. An informal dinner is followed by Gaelic songs and folk music in the Observation Car.

Day 2Arisaig → Glenfinnan
Pass Ben Nevis on the way west and step off at Arisaig for a morning stroll on Morar's silver sands, looking out to the Cuillin. Lunch is served as the train crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct towards Fort William. Explore Glenfinnan with a local guide or hike through Glen Nevis to Steall Waterfall, then enjoy an informal dinner and Scottish music.

Day 3Oban → KilmarnockKilmarnock
From Oban, choose a private boat trip to the quiet island of Kerrera, a day in Oban with lunch by the pier and a visit to the isle of Easdale, or an afternoon of folklore, hill walking and Highland cows at Hebridean baker Coinneach MacLeod's farmhouse. The Easdale and farmhouse options end with whisky and shortbread at the farmhouse. A formal dinner follows on the way to Kilmarnock.

Day 4Drumlanrig Castle → Boat of GartenBoat of Garten
Travel into Dumfriesshire to visit Drumlanrig Castle, the turreted sandstone home of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry, with its formal gardens, woodlands and grand reception rooms. Back on board, lunch is followed by an afternoon of slow travel north through the Highlands, ending with an informal dinner and traditional entertainment on the Strathspey Railway.

Day 5Rothiemurchus → Stirling → DundeeDundee
After a leisurely breakfast, a coach takes you to Rothiemurchus Estate in the Cairngorms. Lunch is served from Kingussie on the way south, then leave the train at Stirling for a guided tour of Stirling Castle and a private champagne reception. A gala dinner on the way to Dundee is followed by music and farewells in the Observation Car.
