Leave Edinburgh for Perth with afternoon tea, then continue through Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl and the Highland peaks to Boat of Garten on the Strathspey Railway. Dinner features local produce, followed by lively entertainment in the Observation Car.

Day 2Tain → Wick
An early start takes the train north to Tain for Glenmorangie Distillery, with a private warehouse tasting and lunch at Glenmorangie House. The journey continues to Wick, and after dinner you visit Dunnet Bay Distillers for drinks on the beach, a bonfire and evening entertainment.

Day 3Orkney Islands → DingwallDingwall
After a Scottish breakfast, a coach takes you to Gills Bay for the ferry to Orkney. Explore Skara Brae, a remarkably preserved Neolithic village, enjoy a traditional lunch and tour more of the island before the evening ferry back. An informal dinner is served as the train travels south to Dingwall.

Day 4Isle of Skye
Spend the whole day on the Isle of Skye. Choose an outdoor adventure among waterfalls and wildlife, or tour with a historian to Kilt Rock, the Trotternish Peninsula and Portree, then Dunvegan Castle and its gardens. Rejoin the train at Kyle of Lochalsh for an informal dinner and Scottish folk music.

After a leisurely brunch, explore Royal Deeside with a historian and visit 16th-century Crathes Castle, known for its turrets, oak panelling and painted ceilings. Back on board, a formal dinner is served with the train stabled overnight in Dundee.

Breakfast is served as the train crosses the Tay Bridge, followed by a private tour of St Andrews' castle, cathedral and St Rule's Tower and free time in town. After a light lunch on board, dine on local seafood at The Ship Inn in Elie and stroll on the beach before drinks on the train as it heads to Wemyss Bay.
