Day 1Morning: Poroy to Aguas Calientes

Check in at Poroy station, where your luggage is tagged and stored, and board at about 09:05. Watch the Andes unfold from the Observatory, Bar and Dining Cars as live musicians play, then enjoy a light Peruvian meal with South American wines from around 11:00.

Day 2Afternoon: Machu Picchu

Arrive at Aguas Calientes at about 12:24 and take a private bus up to the citadel for a guided exploration of Machu Picchu with a Spanish- or English-speaking guide.

Day 3Late afternoon: Tea Time at the gates

As the afternoon softens, head to Sanctuary Lodge, the hotel beside the citadel gates, for the 'Tea Time' experience.

    What are the timings?

    The train leaves Poroy station near Cusco at about 09:05 and reaches Aguas Calientes at about 12:24. Timings are approximate and can change at short notice.

    Which meals are included?

    A brunch-style light Peruvian lunch with South American wines and cocktails is served on board, and 'Tea Time' at Sanctuary Lodge follows your visit to the citadel. Let us know in advance about vegetarian or children's meals.

    Does the train ticket include entry to Machu Picchu?

    No. The train ticket does not guarantee entry to Machu Picchu, as entrance tickets are controlled by Peru's Ministry of Culture. Ask our team to check citadel ticket availability for your day when you enquire.

    How do I get back after the visit?

    This is a one-way journey, ideal if you are staying near Machu Picchu. To return the same day, choose the round-trip version or the evening train back to Cusco or the Sacred Valley.

    Each ticket includes one piece of hand luggage, a bag or backpack of up to 5 kg (11 lb) and 157 cm in combined dimensions. It is tagged and stored for you at check-in.
