Spend the whole day on the Hiram Bingham. Leave Poroy near Cusco in the morning with live music and a light Peruvian lunch, explore Machu Picchu with a guide, take 'Tea Time' at Sanctuary Lodge, then ride the evening train back to Cusco for a five-course dinner and a last cocktail in the Bar Car.

Day by day
Day 1Morning: Poroy to Aguas Calientes
Check in at Poroy station, where your luggage is tagged and stored, and board at about 09:05. Watch the Andes unfold from the Observatory, Bar and Dining Cars as live musicians play, then enjoy a light Peruvian meal with South American wines from around 11:00.

Day 2Afternoon: Machu Picchu
Arrive at Aguas Calientes at about 12:24 and take a bus up to the citadel for a guided visit, then enjoy 'Tea Time' at Sanctuary Lodge by the entrance gates.
Day 3Evening: Aguas Calientes to Poroy
Ride the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for check-in. Board at Aguas Calientes for the 17:50 departure and take in the Andes at dusk to live music. From about 19:00 a five-course dinner with South American wines is served, and there is time for a last cocktail in the Bar Car before arrival at Poroy at about 21:16.

Does the train ticket include entry to Machu Picchu?
No. The train ticket does not guarantee entry to Machu Picchu, as entrance tickets are controlled by Peru's Ministry of Culture. Ask our team to check citadel ticket availability for your day when you enquire.

How long do we have at Machu Picchu?
The train arrives at Aguas Calientes around 12:24 and the return leaves around 17:50, giving you the afternoon for a guided visit of the citadel and 'Tea Time' at Sanctuary Lodge. Remember that citadel entrance tickets must be secured separately.
How much luggage can I bring?
Each ticket includes one piece of hand luggage, a bag or backpack of up to 5 kg (11 lb) and 157 cm in combined dimensions. It is tagged and stored for you at check-in.
