Questions about this journey
Where does the Santiago to San Sebastián journey start?
It begins in Santiago de Compostela with an introductory visit to the historic centre and lunch. You then travel to Ferrol, where the train is waiting, and set off for Viveiro the same evening.
How is this different from the San Sebastián to Santiago direction?
It covers the same regions in reverse, but the days are arranged differently. In this direction you stay two nights in Llanes, with a full day in the Picos de Europa in between, and you end with a visit to San Sebastián rather than Santiago.
Is there a full day in the Picos de Europa?
Yes. The fourth day is devoted to the mountains, valleys and villages of the Picos de Europa, returning to Llanes after lunch for free time by the sea. The following day also heads inland through Cantabrian gorges and villages.
Do we visit Bilbao?
Yes. On the seventh day a city tour shows how Bilbao blends tradition with contemporary architecture and urban renewal. You also pass back through Bilbao on the final morning when you leave the train.
Where does the journey finish?
You leave the train in Bilbao after the last breakfast on board and continue to San Sebastián. A visit and free time to enjoy the city and its food round off the trip.
How can I see departure dates and fares?
Live dates and fares are shown on this page, and our reservations team can help on (866) 484-7882.
