Your journey begins in San Sebastián with an introductory tour of the city and lunch. You then transfer to Bilbao to board the train, meet the crew and settle into your suite. The first dinner is served on board as the train sets off into the northern countryside.

Over breakfast the train returns to Bilbao, a city reinvented along its estuary where contemporary architecture sits beside its industrial heritage. After lunch you continue by rail along the Cantabrian coast to Santander, with free time to stroll the elegant capital before dinner back on board.

Today heads inland into Cantabria and the foothills of the Picos de Europa. The day weaves together small mountain villages, dramatic scenery and places of real cultural interest before you rejoin the train for dinner.

A short coastal run brings you to Santillana del Mar, one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Spain, to wander its cobbled lanes. Lunch is back on the train as it crosses into Asturias, arriving at the seaside fishing town of Llanes with free time before dinner.

A second day in the Picos de Europa takes you among mountains, gorges and wild landscapes on one of the most memorable stages of the trip. You then continue to Oviedo, the graceful capital of Asturias, with free time in its historic centre.

The train follows the Asturian coast, with sweeping views of the Cantabrian Sea and a stop in Gijón, a seafront city known for its culture and food. In the afternoon you reach Luarca, the white town of the Costa Verde, with time to explore before dinner on board.

Over breakfast the train crosses into Galicia along one of the loveliest stretches of the northern coast, past cliffs, estuaries and small Atlantic harbours. After a visit to Ribadeo you travel on to Viveiro, a town shaped by its long seafaring history.

Day 8Viveiro → Ferrol → Santiago de Compostela
The final breakfast on board is served as the train arrives in Ferrol. From there you continue to Santiago de Compostela for a guided tour of the historic centre and some free time, where the journey comes to an end.
