After breakfast on board, discover Toledo, a city where centuries of history are layered into every street, with a guided walk followed by free time. Lunch is in the city before the train sets off west to Cáceres, with dinner on board.

Spend the morning in the old town of Cáceres, a maze of stone lanes, palaces and squares. The train then takes you on to Mérida to visit the principal sites of the former Roman provincial capital. Dinner is at a restaurant.

Breakfast is served as the train heads south into Andalusia. In Jerez, a city shaped by wine, horses and flamenco, you have free time to soak up the atmosphere before dinner on board.

Set out for Cádiz, the bright Atlantic city with one of the longest histories in Europe. Lunch is near El Puerto de Santa María, and you then return to Jerez to board the train for Córdoba, with dinner on board.
