You are welcomed in Santiago de Compostela with a first visit to its extraordinary historic centre, one of Europe's great monumental sites. After lunch you transfer to Ferrol, meet the crew and settle into your suite as the train sets off for Viveiro, with dinner on board.

Day 2Viveiro → Ribadeo → Taramundi → LuarcaLuarca
Breakfast is served as the train follows the Lugo coast past estuaries, cliffs and small Atlantic ports. You discover Ribadeo and the natural and traditional surroundings of Taramundi, then continue into Asturias to Luarca, the elegant white fishing town of the Costa Verde.

Day 3Luarca → Oviedo → Gijón → LlanesLlanes
The route crosses Asturias between coastal scenery and fishing villages. You discover Oviedo and Gijón, two cities with very different characters shaped by history, culture and the sea, before the train follows the coast to Llanes in the late afternoon.

After breakfast you travel deep into the Picos de Europa to see some of the most iconic scenery in northern Spain. The day mixes nature, tradition and mountain villages before you return to the train and continue into Cantabria.

The day begins in Santillana del Mar and at the Altamira Neocave, two landmarks of northern Spain's history and culture. Lunch is served as the train heads to Santander, where you have free time on the bay before dinner.

Day 6Santander → Bilbao
The final breakfast is served as the train crosses the green Cantabrian coast to Bilbao. After saying goodbye to the crew you visit the city and the Guggenheim Museum, followed by lunch and the end of the journey.

Where does the Santiago to Bilbao journey start?
It starts in Santiago de Compostela with a visit to the historic centre and lunch. You then transfer to Ferrol to board the train and travel to Viveiro for the first night.
Is the Guggenheim Museum part of the trip?
Yes. On the final day, after leaving the train in Bilbao, you visit the city and the Guggenheim Museum before lunch and the end of the journey.
Will I see the Altamira cave art?
